Arizona Youth Convention
November 10     .     11, 2017 (all day)

Arizona Youth Convention is a conference for students, uniting together for a genuine encounter with God that propels us with a greater passion for the local church, community outreach, and global initiatives.

For more than 40 years, Arizona Youth Convention has been a conduit for growing thousands of young leaders deeper in their walk with God. It's not just the speakers, music, and electric atmosphere that keeps growing, but the hunger for more of God’s presence with thousands - gathered to lift up the name of Jesus.

Arizona Youth Convention is a two-day conference that allows you to intentionally give God permission to interrupt your schedule, speak into your life, and commission you into a greater awareness of His presence in your daily life.

This year, we are making an intentional effort to ensure ALL people of ALL nations may know the ONE hope of Jesus. We won't stop until ALL know. Hence the theme, ALL around the world. Speakers include Jeremy Johnson, Elyse Roberson (Murphy), JJ Vasquez, and music by FEARLESS BND.

/// MEET THE SPEAKERS ///

Jeremy Johnson is the Lead Pastor of Fearless LA, along with his wife Christy and children, Lyric and Brave. Located in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles, together and alongside their team, they have a call to serve their city and make an impact worldwide through the life-transforming message of Jesus' power and love. Widely-known for his contagious passion, Jeremy travels internationally with a message on his heart to see revival transform culture. He has committed his life to seeing the dreamers rise and fulfill their God-given purpose. Experiencing freedom from fear in his personal life, he longs to see others live fearlessly through the perfect love of Christ.

Elyse Roberson (Murphy) is a writer, pastor, and international speaker. She is driven by her passion for Jesus, the local church and knowing the lyrics to every Taylor Swift song. Elyse is ministering to people with her honest message of hope and grace founded in Jesus Christ.

Having grown up as a pastor’s kid in Sydney, Australia, Elyse graduated from Hillsong Leadership College, and has been a pastor working with young people and young leaders ever since. She has ministered globally in both church and secular settings, inspiring people in their life and challenging them in their faith.

Her experiences of life growing up as a PK led Elyse to write her first book “Confessions of a Church Kid.” Her book is a memoir of the good, bad and ugly of growing up with parents in ministry and all that it entails. Elyse regularly blogs for Propel Women, She Rises, Assemblies of God and others.

These days Elyse calls Los Angeles home, working with young adults and leaders, and ministering as one of the pastors at Oasis Church in Downtown Los Angeles. She found her happily ever after earlier this year, marrying Cameron Roberson. The two of them are on the adventures of their lives and are the living example that God's perfect plan works in imperfection.

JJ Vasquez is a Florida transplant by the way of Brooklyn, NY.  JJ Vasquez served as the District Youth Director of the Florida Multicultural District of the Assemblies of God, overseeing 240 youth ministries in over five different states from 2010 to 2014. Previously, he served as the Youth Pastor of Iglesia el Calvario (the second largest Hispanic Assemblies of God church in the nation), serving a youth ministry of more than 400.

In 2014 God spoke to JJ and Liz to plant a church called Journey in the heart of Winter Park and to serve their community and the city of Orlando selflessly. Since the start they knew God was calling them to create a place where you could invite your friends & family to and they would feel welcomed. JJ holds a Master of Divinity degree from The Southwestern Assemblies of God University.  In 2016, JJ planted Journey Church in Winter Park, FL with a team of people, and he is currently the Lead Pastor. In addition to his local ministry, JJ travels much of the year and speaks at different camps and conventions, encouraging students to impact the world and youth leaders to impact their students.

He is also the Best Selling author of Hello God. Pastor JJ and Liz live in the Orlando area with their two sons, Justice, Zane, and their dog Blue. The best day ever to JJ would be eating NY pizza in the Florida sun.

/// MEET THE BAND ///

When Christy and Jeremy Johnson moved to Los Angeles 3.5 years ago to start a new church, the former youth pastors and worship artists known collectively as Worth Dying For gave up everything they knew to make one giant leap of faith.

“Fear had been something we’d both battled with our entire lives,” Jeremy says, “and yet we felt called to the dreamers, to those crushed by their dreams, to those chasing their dreams, those with dead dreams… to people who had moved to LA from all over the world to pursue the arts, entertainment, education, entrepreneurship—to not just be a safe haven, but a dream factory, helping broken people dare to dream again.”

Trying to come up with a name for the church that would encapsulate both its radical and positive foundation, the couple started digging around for inspiration. And then they saw it: “A scared world needs a fearless church.” —A.W. Tozer.

And so the church-planting season began, migrating from seven different locations—nightclubs, studios and warehouses, at a bonfire on the beach, in a coffee shop, an old garage and eventually back to a nightclub. And as the dreamers came in droves to see this new church, what had been true in their Worth Dying For days was no less true in the City of Angels: when you give people their own words to sing to God, something that reflects what’s happening in their lives right now, God does something explosive with it.

Today, Fearless BND— the sound of worship at Fearless LA—is launching a novel ‘loaves and fishes’ approach to creating new music for the church. The sole purpose? To equip and empower for pastors and worship leaders with songs, media, video, graphics, sermon/song notes, tutorials and more. One innovative, congregationally-ready media package at a time, every first Friday of the month.

“Instead of releasing an entire album all at once,” says Sean Loche, associate pastor at Fearless LA, “this approach gives us the ability to stay current and evolve as the music evolves, and it allows us to get material into churches/hands more quickly. Our goal is to release each single on the first Friday of every month, along with lyric videos, loops, promotional material and high-level graphics, sermons, notes—everything we use in our church—with the hope of making it easier for local pastors and worship leaders.”

The debut package, resourced around the single, “Brighter,” releases nationwide on Friday, September 4th.

Burn brighter, radiate the light, we’ll sing it out ‘til our world’s alive

Burn brighter, fearless in the fight, light, light, light up the darkness

“Brighter,” a pulsating club-mix anthem set for release in September, embodies the energy and passion heard on any given Sunday at Fearless LA, which meets in the No. 1 nightclub in the U.S. “We have church in a nightclub, with lights everywhere, a disco ball above us, three huge LED screens and crazy graphics,” Christy Johnson says, “and it’s pretty awesome seeing the transformation that happens when people worship in that room. The same place where people are dancing all weekend, we’re lifting up the name of Jesus, and he’s changing lives through encounter with him.”

Other powerful anthems in the Fearless BND queue include: “We Lift You Higher,” a hand percussion-driven sing-along, “Anticipation,” a pop/rap fusion that shines like stars for a world in waiting, “Jump Around,” a bass-rich dance celebration of life in Christ and “Everything To You,” a soaring EDM declaration of surrender. “Revival,” a slower ethereal ballad, evokes an intimate desire for a Spirit-led life.

Place your words upon my mouth, the ones that won’t come out

Light a fire inside my heart again

Fan it into flame, burn it til the end …

Fresh, unique, innovative, and most definitely eclectic, Fearless BND is the sound of what happens when young, creative believers are asked to get personal and dig deep. “We sing it from a personal place, out of our own pain, triumphs, devotion and gratitude,” Christy says. “And we believe God is the God of excellence and power, and that he reveals his power through music and through excellence. It’s not just about relevance or ‘keeping up,’ which puts us in competition, because as sons and daughters, we’re not in competition for his glory. And excellence is not looking around but looking in, at what you have in your hands. We want to blow [people] away with excellence, not just with technology but with whatever God has place in our hands.”

The stories behind the songs of Fearless BND—as the story of Fearless LA itself—reflect a move of God, not born of glitz and glam and achieving acclaim in a city full of stars, but born out of encounter with grace. “We’re seeing so many people getting saved, finding new life and new birth in this place. Their world is being revolutionized, so they’re writing from that struggle, fighting for the dreams in their hearts,” says Jeremy, who has seen nightclub staff, security guards and club patrons encounter the truth of Jesus at Fearless LA.

“At the end of the day,” he says of Fearless BND’s mission, “it’s the words that impact us. Where two or more agree around truth, it’s truth shifts the atmosphere and opens hearts.”

That, Jeremy says, is the driving passion behind Fearless BND, to share the gifts God has given this church in the land of broken dreams with worship pastors and leaders around the world, equipping them to lead with power and excellence in today’s content and media-saturated culture.
