Purpose of the Trip
The purpose of this trip is four-fold:
1. Exposure to the Latin American context and the culture of Costa Rica
2. Experience God’s heart for Costa Rica and Latin America
3. Serving the vision of the national church and career missionaries for the development of the people in the communities.
4. Praying together with AZAG & AGWM leadership, capturing memories, and sharing stories of missional impact upon returning home.
Latin America is well known for high levels of poverty, but also home to vibrant centers of entrepreneurship and efforts to raise up the impoverished. It’s ‘now or never’ in reaching the next generation of Latin America for Jesus. Our hosts will be career missionaries, Adam and Sarah Quinn. This lush and strategic region is even richer with Kingdom possibilities.
San José is home to Cincel language school, the gateway to Latin America Caribbean missions. Our team will come alongside the national leadership, with an emphasis on evangelism and outreach, either through high schools directly or through family community outreach.
Whether you're a seasoned believer or just starting on your faith journey, this trip promises to be a life-changing experience that will challenge you and leave a lasting impact on the community in Costa Rica. -
What to Expect
Note From the Missionaries:
It’s hard to believe that a country slightly smaller than Lake Michigan can be one of the most diverse and beautiful places in the world. In fact, Costa Rica makes up only 0.03% of Earth’s land area, but has over 5% of its biodiversity. With volcanoes, gorgeous beaches, and never ending rain forests, Costa Rica attracts over 2.5 million visitors a year making this a $2 billion industry.A unique fact about Costa Rica is, in 1949 they abolished their military and is known throughout the world for its peace and political stability. Costa Ricans, or Ticos, as they are known, are very patriotic and sum up their entire lifestyle with a single phrase, “Pura Vida,” which literally means Pure Life. However, life cannot be pure without Jesus at the center, and what Costa Rica truly needs is an army of Christians sharing their faith. With a population of 70% Catholic (half of whom don’t practice), 12% professing no religion, and 4% practicing other world religions, Costa Rica is a country full of spiritual complacency and has a future atheistic generation deceived by the lies they are fed. The truth is, Costa Rica has a dark side that few outsiders know.
• Humanism is taught to all freshmen on the university campus.
• Drug use continues to be on a sharp rise, especially among teens.
• 20% of the country makes less than $3.00/day. The richest 20% of the country make $20,000/year.
• The cost of living is 30% higher than in the United States.
We are here to impact the most hurting people and reach the future leaders of Costa Rica. With God’s help, we can bring light to this beautiful, yet dark country.

What is AIM?
We go to the nations every year on short-term mission trips through Ambassadors In Mission (AIM), the short-term youth missions program of the Assemblies of God. We encourage every student to go on a foreign mission trip before they graduate high school.
AIM trips can either be stateside or international. AIM started in 1966 and now nearly 10,000 students participate on these trips each year. AIM is a coordinated effort between students, leaders, missionaries and host churches. With Assemblies of God missions in over 250 countries, the opportunities are endless!
